What exactly makes the Recruitment Website good?
The Recruitment Web Awards will be given based on metrics, rather than subjective criteria. For each entry, the judging panel will be looking for answers to questions such as “How fast is the website? Is it easy to use? Is it mobile? Can Candidates apply for a job with their smartphone?”.
Our intention is to establish the baseline for a quality Recruitment Website in Ireland. This data-driven knowledge will be valuable for companies in our industry to continuously improve their on-line presence and ultimately increase their business.
#truDublin – Recruitment Web Awards 2015
Irish Recruitment Web Awards 2015 have been organized and run by Irish Recruiter Ltd, the company most known for building recruitment websites and providing various technical, SEO, online marketing and training services to recruiters in Ireland.
The competition was open to Irish recruitment agency websites or employer job sites and it was free to enter.
Testing and scoring was carried out during last 3 months of 2014.
The winners have been announced at #truDublin un-conference in the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, on January 27th 2015.
For the Irish Recruitment Web Site Awards 2015, we listed all the existing and past National Recruitment Federation (NRF) member agencies and others from our internal agency database. We also included a number of agencies that approached us during the process.
From that list, we short-listed 100 recruitment agency web sites for the Awards. At this stage we have excluded all brochure web sites and sites that do not have published jobs.
Award for the Fastest Recruitment Agency Web Site
Google tells us that our site is slow when it loads for more than 1.5 seconds.
How do Irish recruitment web sites rank when it comes to the load speed?
Load Speed
8% of web sites load under 1 second
22% of web sites load under 1.5 seconds
37% of web sites load under 2 seconds
The average load speed for Irish recruitment web sites is 2.7 seconds.
Overall, for all 100 websites tested, the results are very surprising. The larger the recruitment agency is, the less likely is that it will have a fast web site. In other words, the more time and money you put in your web site, the slower it gets. There are exceptions, but statistically it’s true for our large test sample.
There are ways of explaining this. From our experience, most common reason is adding of new features (e.g. a new campaign) to a home page. The more things added, the slower the site gets.
The fastest recruitment web sites are:
1. 24hr Care Services
2. Osborne Recruitment
3. CAE Parc Aviation
4. Thornshaw
5. O’Reilly Recruitment

Award for the Best Candidate Experience from a mobile phone
The second aspect we looked at was the experience a candidate would have when opening the web site on a mobile phone. Why mobile?
Use of mobile devices for reading email is continuously on the rise and most of our private emails (related to the job hunting) are read on such devices. Yet, if you want to apply for a job, in most cases you have to go to your computer.
How do Irish recruitment web sites look and work on the mobile device?
45% of web sites have the responsive design
36% enable application from mobile devices
24% enable CV upload.
Probably the best mobile home page sample is ComputerFutures.
Award for the Best Candidate Job Application Experience from a mobile phone
The next and final test was to try to apply for a job on a mobile phone.
How did short-listed web sites measure up?
7% of the web sites have the 3 step application process
7.5 is the average number of steps to apply from a mobile phone
The best recruitment web sites in this category are:
1. Vanguard Recruitment
2. BDO HR & Recruitment
3. Top Chefs
4. Arcon Recruitment
5. Recruiters
Conclusion
The vast majority of the Irish recruitment agency web sites load slower than what is generally accepted. The same is with mobile presentation where most fail the basic standards. The candidate’s usage of the recruitment site – the application for a job, in most cases simply doesn’t work.
The sites listed above are the best samples of Irish Recruitment Web sites in 2015.
